Dungeonbowl Races and Player Options

This page gives an overview of the races and players that can be featured on the Dungeonbowl teams that can be built using the AGE rules. Note that there is no player allowance or team re-roll costs given, as these factors are already accounted for by the Basic Team Building Rules.

 

Note that certain races have changed their name and identity slighty over the years and different editions of Blood Bowl, and AGE has made some modifications to certain races to increase variety and flavour. The changes and additions are as follows.

 

  • Elves in the original 1989 game came in two versions - Elves and Dark Elves. In 1998, the range had been expanded and reworked, and now consisted of Wood Elves, Dark Elves and High Elves. Later on, GW re-added the original Elves as Pro Elves. AGE has kept the variety, but changed the names to Light Elves, Dark Elves, Grey Elves and Common Elves. The idea is that the noble elven races have become aligned to degrees of illumination, and those who do are not accepted into these lineages are seen as lowborn and exiled commoners..

  • The 1989 Chaos Humans (though not present in DB back then) were changed into generic Chaos in 1998. AGE has split the 1998 team into two teams: Chaos Humans and Beastmen.

 

  • The 1989 Chaos Dwarfs (though not present in DB back then) kept the same name in 1998, but have been split by AGE into two teams: Chaos Dwarfs and Hobgoblins.

 

  • The 1989 game featured a Skeleton team, with Mummies as their special big-guy-monster player. In 1998, these had been combined and supplemented with other races as simply Undead. The 1998 Undead have been split by AGE into two teams: Skeletons and Zombies.

 

  • AGE has added Dryads, Fimir and Slann as new races, relative to the BB 1.2 rulebook - the Slann team existed in 1989, just not in DB, and have also had later GW-approved rules.

 

The basic races are listed alphabetically below, and the player types are listed in order of increasing cost within each race listing. Big Guys (and other monstrous races that can only be taken as a tertiary race) are listed alphabetically in their own section at the end of the list.

 

Note that the AGE rules below have modified many of the rules and costs for various player types compared to those found in any Blood Bowl rulebook. It is up to you whether you wish to use the rules given here, use the published rules, or make up your own variations.
